Avila Beach is a small coastal town approximately 10 miles south of San Luis Obispo. It is an ideal place to live for those who want to be near a beach and not too far away from the amenities of a city.

Shoppers who want to save money on clothing and accessories can head over to the Pismo Beach Premium Outlets approximately 13 miles away.
Families can visit Avila Valley Barn to go on hayrides and visit animals in a petting zoo.
The San Luis Obispo Regional Transit Authority provides trolley service between Avila Beach and Pismo Beach Premium Outlets. RTA buses travel between the outlet mall and San Luis Obispo. Those who are leaving the area for work or leisure can fly to a few cities from San Luis Obispo Regional Airport approximately 10 miles away or take Amtrak from San Luis Obispo. Travelers can fly to a number of cities from Santa Barbara Airport approximately 90 miles away.
The public schools closest to Avila Beach are in the San Luis Coastal Unified District. There are elementary schools, middle schools and high schools less than 12 miles from Avila Beach.
